M4: Heston Service Area
asked Her Majesty's Government:When they expect a full range of services again to be available at Heston for motorists travelling West on the M4 Motorway.
I understand that Granada Motorway Service Areas Limited, the operators of Heston Service Area, are preparing plans for a new catering building which, subject to their obtaining the necessary consents, would replace, as soon as practicable, the one burned down on 28th May. They cannot yet forecast when the new building will be in operation. In order to provide the minimum services broadly required under their lease, they are currently installing temporary catering, shop and toilet facilities which they hope to have in operation before the end of July.
Nuclear Weapons: Local Authority Requests
asked Her Majesty's Government:Which local and regional authorities have now endorsed the decision of the Manchester City Council to declare their area a nuclear-free zone.
In addition to those authorities listed in my earlier reply to the Question of the noble Lord, Lord Brockway, of 9th March (Official Report vol. 418, col. 98), the Government have received representations calling upon Her Majesty's Government to refrain from the manufacture or positioning of any nuclear weapons within their city boundaries from the following local councils: Leicester City, Desborough Town, Norwich City, Oxford City, the Borough of Pendle, Scunthorpe Borough, Welwyn and Hatfield District, the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, Dyfed County, the Borough of Watford, the Borough of Camden, Glasgow City, Chesterfield Borough, Leeds City, the Borough of Langbaurgh, Dwyfar District, the London Borough of Greenwich, Crawley Borough and Clydebank District.
Trustees: Charity Commission Guidance
asked Her Majesty's Government:What guidance is given by the Charity Commission to trustees who ask for advice about the definition of prudence and imprudence in the discharge of duties and responsibilities laid down by the Charities Act 1960 and the Trustee Investment Act 1961.
The Government are informed by the Charity Commission that it would not be possible to give a specific reply to an inquiry in such broad terms as those in the noble Lord's Question. But the Commission are always very willing to give help and guidance to trustees who ask for advice on a specific problem.House adjourned at nineteen minutes before four o'clock.
