Air Weapons: Campaign Against Misuse

asked Her Majesty's Government:When they intend to launch their publicity campaign against the misuse of air weapons, how long the campaign will last, how much the campaign will cost, and what results they expect to achieve as a consequence of this campaign.

Decisions on a campaign to combat the misuse of air weapons will be taken in the light of consultations with interested organisations. Until these have been completed it is not possible to say what the timing, duration and cost of such a campaign might be. However, the Government's objective is to heighten public awareness and sense of responsibility about the dangers of air weapons misuse.

Persons Liable To Deportation: Reporting Of Convictions

asked Her Majesty's Government:When they completed the review of current guidance to the police about the reporting of convictions by the police of persons who are liable to deportation, and how soon they expect to be able to announce the new guidance on this matter to Parliament.

The outcome of the review is contained in Home Office Circular 104/1981, a copy of which is in the Library, and which gives chief officers of police new guidance about the circumstances in which reports should be made to the Home Office.

Income Tax On Personal Incomes

asked Her Majesty's Government:How much additional revenue would be raised if the rates of income tax on personal incomes of (a) over £10,000 per annum and (b) over £20,000 were restored to the level at which they stood before the changes introduced by the Budget of June 1979.

The answer would depend on what assumptions are made about a range of other matters such as the level of the personal allowances, the basic rate of tax and the higher rate bands.House adjourned at nineteen minutes before seven o'clock.
