Parole: Category A Prisoners

asked Her Majesty's Government:How many Category A prisoners were granted parole in 1979 and 1980 respectively.

None of those released on parole in 1979 and 1980 was in Category A at the time of release.

Ms Erlinda Tiglao

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they will reconsider their decision not to allow Ms. Erlinda Tiglao to remain in this country.

Ms. Tiglao is an illegal entrant from the Philippines, who gained admission to the United Kingdom with a work permit obtained on the basis of false references. My right honourable friend the Home Secretary has agreed to defer her removal pending the outcome of a meeting he is to have on 2nd December with an all-party deputation to discuss the general issues.

Conservation Areas

asked Her Majesty's Government:Whether they will publish a list of the conservation areas in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

I regret that the information for England is not available in list form. There are over 5,000 conservation areas in England, but to prepare a list of their names would involve a disproportionate amount of staff time and expenditure which could not be justified. There are about 300 conservation areas in Wales and over 400 in Scotland. While lists are not published, they are available on request. Copies will be sent to the noble Lord. There are 16 conservation areas in Northern Ireland and their names are given below:—
