The Criminal Justice Act 1982
asked Her Majesty's Government:Which sections of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 are now in force.
The provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1982 now in force are those which, by virtue of Section 80(1), came into force on the date of Royal Assent, namely: Section 32 (early release of prisoners) and Section 33 (power to alter the minimum period for eligibility for release on parole) which confer powers not yet exercised; the associated provisions in Schedules 14, 16 and 17; Section 57 (statutory provision for the appointment of Her Majesty's Chief Inspectors of Prisons); Sections 74 and 75 (construction of references to "statutory maximum" and "the standard scale"); Section 76 (financial provision); Section 80 (commencement); and Section 81(citation and extent).The following provisions of the Act will come into force on 31st January:

| Section 64 | and Schedule 10 (persons recommended for deportation); |
| Section 65 | and Schedule 11 (probation and after-care); |
| Section 66 | (right of appeal against probation, discharges and associated ancillary orders); |
| Section 67 | (compensation orders); |
| Section 70 | (abolition of imprisonment for vagrancy offences); |
| Section 71 | (abolition of imprisonment for loitering and soliciting for purposes of prostitution); |
| Section 73 | (recall of witnesses); |
together with other related and minor provisions in Schedules 14 and 15 (minor and consequential amendments), Schedule 16 (repeals) and Schedule 17 (transitional provisions).
Sections 35–50 and Schedules 2–7 dealing with maximum summary fines (together with the relevant provisions in Schedules 14–17) will come into force on llth April.
It is our intention to bring the remaining provisions of the Act into force in the second quarter of this year, and we will make a further announcement about this in due course.
The Royal Scottish Museum: Proposed Legislation
asked her Majesty's Government:
Whether they anticipate introducing during the present Session legislation transferring from the Scottish Office to a board of trustees the responsibility for the Royal Scottish Museum, in view of the fact that the prospective introduction of such legislation was announced in a Written Answer from the Secretary of State for Scotland on 22nd July of last year (House of Commons Debates, col. 303).Consultations are continuing on the various changes proposed in the statement. Legislation will be brought forward at a convenient opportunity, but not in the current Session.
India: Special Quota Voucher Applications And Interviews

On what dates the people applied for special quota vouchers who have been invited for interview in February and March respectively.Special voucher applicants in India invited for interview in February had lodged their applications in early May 1976 in the non-priority categories and between January and June 1980 in the priority categories. Those invited for interview in March applied in early and mid-May 1976 in the non-priority categories and between June and September 1980 in the priority categories.
