The sterling-deutschmark exchange rate (expressed as the number of deutschmark per pound sterling) was as follows:

  • 1 January 1996: 2.233
  • 1 January 1997: 2.638
  • 1 January 1998: 2.960
  • 1 January 1999: 2.772
  • 3 January 2000: 3.124 (no data for 1 January)
  • 1 January 2001: 3.105.
