Health Service Restructuring

Volume 456: debated on Thursday 8 February 2007

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate she has made of redundancy costs of the restructuring of (a) strategic health authorities, (b) ambulance trusts and (c) primary care trusts. (111003)

We have estimated that the redundancy costs arising from commissioning a patient led national health service would be in the order of £325 million. These figures are difficult to estimate and will only become firmer as new structures are put into place in the strategic health authorities, primary care trusts and ambulance trusts.
