To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what input she intends to have in the inquiry now being carried out by the Office of Rail Regulation into the January 2008 overruns of engineering works on the west coast route modernisation. (180491)

The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) has launched an urgent investigation into Network Rail's management of engineering projects, including the overrun of works on the west coast main line over the new year. It has sought representations from a number of interested parties, including the Department for Transport. The Department is happy to answer any questions of the ORR where this can be helpful to its investigation.
