To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer pursuant to the answer of 6 February 2008, Official Report, column 1198W to Question 184207, on inflation, if he will calculate the likely effect on the overall rate of inflation of increasing the police force’s net pay by (a) 2.5 per cent. and (b) 1.9 per cent. over the next two years.
