Volume 476: debated on Wednesday 21 May 2008

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what assessment he has made of the effectiveness of the operation of the Choose and Book system in South East London. (206376)

The Department has not undertaken a specific assessment of the effectiveness of the operation of choose and book in South East London. If required, this would be the responsibility of the local primary care trusts. In March 2008, choose and book utilisation in South East London was 33 per cent., compared with a London average of 39 per cent. and a national average of 45 per cent.

South East London includes Bromley, Greenwich Teaching, Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Bexley primary care trusts.
