To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many civil servants in his Department have been (a) investigated, (b) suspended and (c) dismissed for (i) losing and (ii) deliberately disclosing (A) data stored on departmental equipment and (B) confidential information in each year since 1997. (242926)

Our records show that since 1997 three members of staff have been investigated, suspended and dismissed for deliberately disclosing confidential information. Our records show that no staff have been suspended or dismissed for losing any data stored on departmental equipment. One member of Foreign and Commonwealth Office staff has been investigated and disciplined for having done so.
