To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office pursuant to the answer to the right hon. Member for Horsham of 24 February 2010, Official Report, column 604W, on departmental computer software, whether the Cabinet Office’s IT department permits or facilitates the installation of (a) Firefox, (b) Chrome and (c) Opera on departmental computers for the use of civil servants in her Department and in 10 Downing Street; and what version of Internet Explorer is installed on the computers in 10 Downing Street. To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office pursuant to the ministerial correction of 1 March 2010, Official Report, column 12MC, on departmental computer software, whether (a) Firefox and (b) Opera website browsers are permitted to be installed on her Department’s computers. (323571)

On specific computers the Cabinet Office allows the use of various browsers where there is a requirement for their use.

Cabinet Office’s corporate IT services include internet explorer as a standard feature. Versions are updated to ensure that we have supported software and achieve value for money.
